Three premises of Conflict and Grief work
- That Conflict is a Resource. Conflict holds within it vital messages regarding unmet needs and areas of necessary change.
- And that there is a price in not expressing one’s grief and that Grief needs to be witnessed to be healed.
- and this quote from Maya Angelou "There is no agony like bearing an untold story inside of you"
Raise energy & create unity
Do you need help to: Raise energy and create unity in the community Identify what’s important for everyone in a meeting or event and create strategies that attend to what’s been identified Give community members the experience of being heard Enable community members to listen to each other Slow down meetings and discussions in a respectful way to aid progress Co-create guiding principles so that people can work effectively together Help people air conflicts and work through them Work towards agreements Enable community members to acknowledge and list their skills and assets Create enough safety and trust that community members are able to act out of their best, most generous selves. . |

It worked because WE worked
We are two local women, mothers, friends, human beings with heart. We see a lot of pain and struggle in our local communities and this deeply affects us.
As we sat and talked through our aims for this little initiative on Angell Town estate, we talked about how common it is when in pain, conflict and grief, we pull our shutters down and we struggle with openness, trust and transparency. We wondered … what if we walked toward painful, frustrating and overwhelming issues, together, in a supportive environment? So we collaborated on the Angell Town project and enjoyed each other's input very much. As a white woman (me) and Black woman (Lahnah) we complement each other and bring different strengths, skills and backgrounds. Our experience on Angell Town that the project worked because WE worked. People experiencing us working together and supporting each other was new and inspiring for some people. |
